Read MoreIt had been three years since I last had a sip of coffee in Costa Rica or felt the Caribbean sand and water underneath my feet. Three years since I saw my friends and family. It was time to go back home. Two years ago, Costa Rica held its presidential election. In the U.S., news about the army-free Central American country came in batches of negativity. The stories I heard were of a divided Costa Rica, torn apart by politics and religion. Deep inside, I feared to find my country transformed into a different place.
Read MoreThe first time we were in STL, we visited for a few hours. We drove across the Mississippi to see the city from the state of Illinois. As the sun set on the horizon, this is what we saw.
Read MoreBefore nightfall, we were in Willis Tower at 412 meters above the ground enjoying how the sunset drew shadows on Lake Michigan.
Read MoreIt was December 31st, in the late 80's. As the clock struck midnight, my grandmother grabbed a suitcase and ran out to the street; I followed her. We ran to the corner, passing by a cemetery, and then back home. My grandmother told me she did it for good luck; it was supposed to attract trips to the new year. She has traveled to countless places, and was the one who stirred in me that urge to move, to cross at least the street, to explore, observe, smell and feel.

Read MoreWe walked around the monument for a few minutes, and then sat down to watch the sunset. The sun descended slowly, through “the needle”, an oval-shaped gap in between the rocks. The colors of the horizon as the sun sets, and the moon begins to shine taking its place, were simply beautiful. We were amazed, we were marveled, even after sunset, when everything got dark, we wanted to stay.
Read MoreWe wanted the place to ourselves. Nothing like a beautiful sunset in a new place, Coronado Heights, the hill where Francisco Vázquez de Coronado apparently gave up his search for the seven golden cities.
Read MoreCome with us. Let us show you… There is more to Kansas than you might think. Let’s explore the wild places, lets go to the Badlands.
Read MoreIt wasn’t easy to get there, but without a doubt, it was a lot harder to leave. We lived in Cartago in 2014, when we first visited Santa Teresa. We took two buses and a ferry, and we would do it again and again. See, this is the place where you actually go to relax. Now that I think about it, that last sentence will probably be repeated in the next posts we will share with you, I guess we relax too much, or not enough.
Read MoreOn Saturday March 19th, Colors of Costa Rica was at the Feria de Diseño Gourmet Los Yoses with special guests. A dear friend was celebrating her birthday, so we took the opportunity and attended the event in Los Yoses.
Read MoreLast Saturday, March 5th we had the opportunity to attend the Amón Cultural event, in Barrio Amón. Several businesses and institutions from the same neighborhood got together to offer its visitors everything from guided tours, tea samples, concerts and dance presentations to art-creating activities, such as writing on a wall or coloring a sidewalk.
Read MoreAs part of the prize we won through Expo Novia, Will and I had the opportunity to stay at the Casa Conde hotel at playa Panamá. The hotel is all inclusive, but during our stay they didn’t have the usual all-you-can-eat buffet. Maybe it was just because we visited during low season or perhaps they are searching to provide a more exclusive plan. Customers can order from the menu or ask for the “plat du jour”.
Read MoreA sunny and gorgeous Sunday, like the one we had today reminds me of how much I like Costa Rica. Will and I went to Barrio Escalante, where the 2nd La Luz Gastronomy Festival took place. We got there early, just in time to try a choripán without having to wait in line.
Read MoreThis is the first destination post of the blog, intended to promote Costa Rica and it’s many wonders. It had been a while since the last time we were in Zarcero, Alajuela; so we decided to refresh our memory with a short trip.
Read MoreA year ago, my boyfriend and I were invited by a dear friend to her wedding in Manzanillo, which needless to say was lovely and also gave us the opportunity to enjoy Puerto Viejo. During the day, Puerto Viejo bursts with colors, laughter, the smell of tasty food and good music.
Read MoreI fall asleep on the beach and when I wake up I hear a group of surfers planning a get-together for tonight that involves someone cooking rice and beans… Oh yes, I definitely like it here…
Read MoreI walk along calle Real, Liberia. I see houses that were built years ago, seniors sitting on rocking chairs or benches, just watching people walk by. Their warm smiles bring joy to my heart. Their eyes have witnessed decades of changes, of buildings being built and torn down, of children who outgrew them, of stories about tradition, family and love.
