Inspiration can come from different places. Surrounding yourself by interesting people and stimulating environments helps keep your mind open. Kleon suggests traveling, using your hands (drawing, sewing, planting) and keeping other hobbies.
Read MoreIt’s the time of the year when Santa Baby and I’ll Be Home For Christmas are playing in every store you walk in. Inside, the warm tunes and the cinnamon scented air compete with the bright lights and colorful decorations from outside. Which scenario is more beautiful? It’s hard to tell.
Read MoreI would say that now, more than ever, you can truly be whatever you want to be. A fashion designer, a blogger, a model… It is no longer up to destiny to place you right in front of that café, under perfect light, at the exact time a model scout happens to walk out, and determines you are incredibly beautiful. No, now we have countless model agencies, social media, networking events. People actually have a shot at carving their own destiny.
Read MoreI usually think more of the future, than I do of the past. The future is filled with possibilities, dreams, paths that can lead anywhere. However, the past comes up sometimes, and I have to admit, it is a comfortable place… childhood laughter and games, stories with known endings, certainty. And then comes the nostalgia, for “the good days”, for times and places that I was never in, but can’t help but admire, and wonder what life was like back then.
Read MoreAuro has been backstage several times, one time as a model for her own design. After the event she would tell me how it went, what she liked, and other details. I've never stopped to think about photographing the sweet mayhem that takes place before a show. So when I went to the backstage of the Nelson-Atkins Fashion Show I kept asking myself: Now what? What do I shoot? Do I need to ask for permission? I hope I don’t get in the way of anybody or trip over a cable or something; so yes I was a bit nervous.
Read MoreI would say the weather in Costa Rica is beautiful. Not all Costa Ricans would agree, and yes, we do have rainy days, tropical humidity, and wind, but we also get those perfect sunny days that take your breath away.
Read MoreFashion week went by so fast, we couldn't believe it was Saturday already! The last night of this season’s KCFW. We were excited to see what designers had created for the evening. In this first part, we will share the pieces designed by Michael Drummond, Tomboy, Barbara Bultman and Christian Micheal accessorized by none other than Dolyn Bags.
Read MoreWe loved sharing the talent of the designers who presented their collections on the first segment of the KCFW Friday Runway. We have been working on this second part, and are very excited to show you all what we got.
Read MoreLast week Will and I attended the Kansas City Fashion Week Friday runway. There are so many amazing designs and cool pictures we want to share with you! So we decided to do the two segments of the event on separate posts. On this first one, you will get a glance at the collections of Joshua Christensen, Ethel and Dean, Julia Fischer and Nasheli Juliana. Click on each designer's name above their pictures to view their page.
Read MoreChoosing what to wear on a cold or windy day is always a challenge. I love pictures where clothes wave with the wind. On the other hand, if I am wearing a loose short dress or skirt, it may get very uncomfortable. On this throw back post of a trip to the Irazu volcano, I made sure I was warm by wearing booties and a sweater, and to add some movement I designed a long skirt.
Read MoreThis year I had the opportunity of working at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and I would like to share my experience with you guys. On its first day the MBFWSJ was a display of glitter and color.
Read MoreI found “La Musa” on Facebook and was immediately captivated by the color and originality of the accessories. I would classify them as “statement jewelry”, where the most important part of the attire is the accessory itself, which is attention-grabbing from blocks away.
Read MoreAs part of the prize we won through Expo Novia, Will and I had the opportunity to stay at the Casa Conde hotel at playa Panamá. The hotel is all inclusive, but during our stay they didn’t have the usual all-you-can-eat buffet. Maybe it was just because we visited during low season or perhaps they are searching to provide a more exclusive plan. Customers can order from the menu or ask for the “plat du jour”.
Read MoreWhen it comes to job interviews I've always gone with the safe bet: a formal shirt and pants or a skirt. But today I had an interview for a fashion related job, where creativity is an important qualification. How to dress to impress? I chose a pair of really loose printed pants (which I never thought of like business attire) and decided to go for a risky but chic combination of stripes and prints. To give the look a formal spin, I added high heels, a black blazer and contrasting jewelry.
Read MoreFacundo Cabral said: “Do what you love and you will be happy. If you do what you love, you are condemned to succeed”. I love what I do. Fashion. Designing, sewing, shopping, blogging and... modeling.
Read MoreThe weather gets cooler as we head North on the road that leads to the Irazú volcano. We don’t drive all the way up there; we stop on the road to glance down… a beautiful view of Cartago. It’s windy, but the yellow flowers bring warmth into the picture. After that, we decide to go to Prusia. It’s “unknown territory” for us and we’re a bit doubtful about being able to get there, after reading a review that recommends a 4x4 vehicle.
Read MoreThis is the first destination post of the blog, intended to promote Costa Rica and it’s many wonders. It had been a while since the last time we were in Zarcero, Alajuela; so we decided to refresh our memory with a short trip.
Read More“Think global, act local” was designed thinking of a better world and of what we can do to improve it. I am currently competing for a scholarship with this project. If you haven’t voted, please do. You are also welcome (and encouraged) to share the link so that other people can vote too. Let’s support emerging designers! Thanks for your help.
