It Goes Over Your Nose

It’s been more than a year since the pandemic started. Staying home, away from people, and wearing the much-debated mask is what the pandemic meant for many. For others, it meant a disruption in their economy, their homes. And for more than half a million people in the US, it meant losing a family member.

Needless to say, that piece of cloth goes over your mouth and nose. Not on your chin, forehead, and definitely not on the floor, ground, or grass. This photo essay shows where many of the masks ended up. A stroll in the park or downtown Columbia, MO shows how people disposed of one of the things that could’ve prevented thousands from dying and what many nurses struggled to get.

People are burnt out and desperate to go “back to normal”. Meanwhile, the planet continues to bear our burdens.
